Interesting article in e-Literate

As a student of online learning, and learning in general, as well as a fan of Vygotsky's theory of proximal development, the title of this article in e-Literate caught my eye...The Zone of Proximal CuriosityWhat do you think?  Any geniuses out there using the Internet to both satisfy and increase your curiosity?See More

To, all, Hello;

First, please, accept my apologies for never giving a formal/proper introduction to all members of TCFIR. Second, please, allow me to do so, almost, ten months later.
My name is Lowry Taylor. I am co-founder of the Digital Development Corporation And Oversight Committee, Inc. (Formed in 2004).
Maria, I posted the intro under "forum". You will find it to be a good reply, as well.
Thanks.

My primary interest is the advancement of art education. Proper methodology and content standards have advanced the perception of visual art in public schools. However, there is still much work to do in educating the public on the rationale for art education programs. Art is a core subject and I am constantly amused that people call it extracurricular or non academic. The cognitive, cultural, historical and philopsophical experiences that happen in an art classroom are abound, especially when taught by an art educator.

Thanks for reading. This addition to my March 31 thread may help those of you to understand why I call myself a professional art educator rather than an artist.

Hi,

I am responding to Marla's nice note to me, especially the following: "I know you'll have some insight to share here--photography has changed a lot since the birth of the Internet, and it would be good to know how it has affected your work as a photographer."

Images are integrated with everyone's waking life. I am critical of what I see, but open to most of it. As a global interconnected society, I believe that we must promote democratic values surrounding internet access to images and information.

As a photographer, I know that the act of viewing is constructivist. Viewers derive meaning based on what they "bring" to an image. When I take a photo, I am telling a story to others about my topic. Hopefully someone has a positive experience with my work.

Because the internet is saturated with photography, I never know who is viewing my work at any given time. I can't conclude that the volume of images online truly waters down the power of one individual piece. As long as one person besides the artist sees a work of art it has begun a journey outside of that initial viewing....

Thanks Marla. I'm a storyteller by trade. I use love marks, icons, archetypes and an assortment of mediums in my Transmedia Storytelling. Here is one of my current projects, Hempsters - Plant The Seed starring Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard & Woody Harrelson. http://www.7thScreen.com @7thScreen @Hempsters

You can also go to my profile on LinkedIn or Google "producer Rod Pitman" for more back story.

Tell me a little about your self, who you are working with and what you are envisioning as you Face Future?

Thank you for thinking of me.

Warmest regards,
